ABOUT THE ORCHARD

Drive by the East Chain Wildlife area and you will have an appreciation for the beautiful country setting.  We purchased the property in the spring of 2001.  In the spring of 2003 we decided to plant an orchard and purchased 100 apple trees.  The next year, we bought another 100 and another 100.  Today the orchard has over 500 trees of different varieties.  When apple production was light, apples were sold to a local grocery store and at a local campground.  Soon there was plenty of apples and the idea of a fall festival was formed.  The festival is about a fall experience of apples and pumpkins as well as hours of entertainment and fun.  Take a hay ride around the property, a quick ride down a giant slide, build a scarecrow, bounce in a castle, listen to the storyteller, pick a pumpkin from the pumpkin patch and enjoy the fall season.

Feel free to just visit the orchard.  Enjoy the tastes of fall including kettle corn, caramel apples, apple pie and apple crisp.  Ever have an apple cider slush?  Refreshing!  Eat your treat in the picnic area and enjoy the wonderful country setting. Best of all there is never a charge to visit the Apple Barn or sit in the picnic areas.

New this year, we started a beehive!

We started a beehive in order to increase our apple production.  We could not have picked a better year to start with the early blossoms and hard freeze the apples trees could use all the help we could give them!
